Asha-Lata is an Institute working for education, development and rehabilitation of all categories of challenged children such as Hearing impaired, Visually impaired, Orthopedically handicapped and Intellectually Challenged along with Autism, Cerebral palsy and Multiple disability. Children mostly come from the lower strata of society.
ASHA-LATA was established on 19th July 1999 as "Asha-Lata Viklang Vikas Kendra" by some retired senior Officials of SAIL, Bokaro Steel Plant. Our Ex Chairman Late B. B. Jaipuriar & present Director Shri B. S. Jayaswal, founder General Secretary are the visionaries & founders of this institute whose dedication has brought many achievements to this organization.
Starting with 45 children the Institute has now grown with more than 198 students. It is running since inception without any financial help either from Govt. or any other funding agencies. The financial resources are only from individual donations and donations from organizations.
It is run by an NGO managed by a group of people retired from senior executive position mostly engineer from SAIL, BOKARO STEEL PLANT. All the members are giving free services to the organization.
It has very good infrastructural facilities provided by Bokaro Steel Plant . It has five acres of land having compound walls with 10 nos. of class rooms and three nos. of office rooms. It has two Computer centers, a Physiotherapy centre and a Helen Keller multipurpose hall having 3000 sq ft area.
Having such infra-structural facilities, trained-teachers, dedicated members and staff, Asha-Lata kendra has potential to grow into a premier institution of its kind in this region. The managing committee is confident enough that with its hard work and determination, it would take the Institute to great heights with positive support from the society corporate houses and the Government.
OUR PLAN IS TO ESTABLISH A UNIVERSITY FOR DISABLED STUDENT AT ASHA-LATA WITH THE HELP FROM SAIL, BOKARO STEEL PLANT AND CITIZENS OF BOKARO WITH HOSTEL FACILITY.
